What is a Virus?

In short a computer virus is just a small program that has been written with the intent of damaging your computer. They normally attack the system files making them corrupted to the point of failure whilst ensuring (once in your system) that your installed antivirus isn't able to remove it.

How do I protect my computer?

There are many different antivirus programs on the market today such as 'Bitdefender', 'AVG', 'Norton', etc... Fortunately these are generally quite sufficient in the protection of your computer! However new virus's are created every single day.  Then they are unleashed upon the unsuspecting public via the internet. Because these viruses are new and so far unknown, the antivirus may not have found a cure yet or simply may not have seen the virus coming in. In these situations the virus unfortunately enters your system and then systematically starts to de-stabilise your system. This is usually achieved by de-activating your antivirus first. Eventually your system becomes un-operational.

How do I remove the virus once my antivirus has failed?

In these situations you would need to manually remove the virus from your system outside of the antivirus! To do this takes some working knowledge of your computers operation system and registry files! It is not recommended to a person with none or limited experience, as this could do more, or as much damage as the virus in concern. Therefore a trip to your local computer vendor or professional is normally recommended!
